Worm Holes

Originally called Einstein-Rosen bridges, worm holes connect distant regions of space time. By journeying through a wormhole, you could theoretically travel between the two regions faster than a beam of light, and, as such, as with any mode of faster than light travel, worm holes therefore offer the possibility of time travel.

It should be remembered that worm holes are just theory at the present time as they have not been observed however they are theoretically possible under the rules of general relativity.

Unlike in science fiction, however, it is highly unlikely that they could ever be stable enough for matter to pass through, as if even matter could enter the worm hold it probably would have collapsed before the matter came out of the other end.

There is a suggestion though that data could be sent through a worm hole to communicate with being in other parts of the galaxy and/or universe.
